Raymon Nelson MD was born in Washington,DC at Providence Hospital. He enjoys practicing at the hospital in which he was born. He graduated from high school in 1975 from Mercersburg Academy.He graduated with a BS in Biology from Morehouse College in 1979. He completed his medical school education at Howard University College of Medicine in 1983. He did his internal medicine residency training and cardiology fellowship training at DC General Hospital which he completed in 1988.   In 1988 he began his private practice of Cardiology and Internal Medicine.

His father,Robert R Nelson MD, was a well known and well respected physician in Northeast Washington DC.He  had a brother in Gastroenterology who also practiced in association with him at Providence Hospital. His brother Ralph L Nelson MD passed away on November 29 2004.

Raymon K Nelson MD is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology,and a member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology,American Medical Association,  DC Medical Society and The Society of Cardiothoracic Computed Tomography.He was serving as Chairman of The Department of Internal Medicine at Providence Hospital from 2005-2011.
